Take “Time to Breathe” this Spring with a 24-hour retreat

From Friday 15 March to Saturday 16 March (5pm-5pm) the old abbey in Kortenberg will again be ours for worship, teaching, prayer and rest. Over the years God has blessed us with opportunities to “get away from it all” for 24 hours and enjoy time in his presence. We have seen God powerfully at work during these times of retreat in the past, and we are expectant that he will move in us and bless us in 2019.

Revd. Gillian Wilton (previously Assistant Chaplain at St Paul’s Tervuren, now based in Sheffield, UK) will lead us in looking at our longing to experience God, inviting him into our time together, worshipping him, exploring scripture and breathing in his life-giving Spirit. At the close of the retreat, we will prepare to go out using the breath he gives us, to praise him in the world.

Programme

The draft programme is as follows:

Session 1 (Friday evening): The Calming Breath of God

Session 2 (Saturday morning): The Life-giving Breath of God

Session 3 (Saturday morning): The Enabling Breath of God

Free time for personal prayer/reflection, walk in the grounds, contemplative prayer using the art space...

Session 4 (Saturday afternoon, with Holy Communion): Breathing out the Breath of God

Places are limited so please register as soon as possible. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Open to women over 18.

We encourage you to stay for the full 24 hours if that works for you. Please consider sharing a twin room if you can, as this means we can accommodate as many women as possible who would like to stay overnight. (We do have some single rooms available as well.) If you cannot stay overnight, you are still welcome to join the retreat by coming to supper and the first talk on the Friday evening, going home for the night and coming back on Saturday morning.

Extra information

This is an open event organised together with women from Holy Trinity Brussels – do spread the word and feel free to send this on to anyone you think might be interested.

Parents of young children might be interested to know that on Saturday 16 March at 3pm there is Messy Church in the St Paul’s Church Centre – a great opportunity for dads and children to have fun exploring God together while you recharge and take time for your relationship with God.
